ಸಂಕಷ್ಟದಿಂದ ಬೆಳ್ಳಿಪರದೆಯವರೆಗೆ: ಸುಶೋಭನ್ ಸೋನು ರಾಯ್ ಅವರ ಬೆಂಗಾಲಿ ಚಿತ್ರರಂಗದ ಪಾದಾರ್ಪಣೆ

     ಹೌರಾದಲ್ಲಿ ಜನಿಸಿ ಕಲ್ಕತ್ತಾದಲ್ಲಿ ಬೆಳೆದ ನಟ ಸುಶೋಭನ್ ಸೋನು ರಾಯ್, ಪ್ರಸ್ತುತ ನಿರ್ದೇಶಕ ಸೌಮೋಜಿತ್ ಅದಾಕ್ ಅವರ 'ಟೇಕ್ ಕೇರ್ ಪ್ರೀತಿ' (Take Care Bhalobasa) ಎಂಬ ಬೆಂಗಾಲಿ ಸಿನಿಮಾದಲ್ಲಿ ಅಭಿನಯಿಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ನಾಲ್ಕು ಮಂದಿ ಸ್ನೇಹಿತರ ನಡುವಿನ ಸಂಬಂಧಗಳು, ಭಾವನಾತ್ಮಕ ಸಂಘರ್ಷಗಳು ಮತ್ತು ಬದಲಾಗುವ ಸಮೀಕರಣಗಳ ಸುತ್ತ ಹಣೆದಿರುವ ಈ ಕಥೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಅವರು 'ಜಾಯ್' ಎಂಬ ಪಾತ್ರದಲ್ಲಿ ಕಾಣಿಸಿಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದಾರೆ.

ಸುಶೋಭನ್ ಅವರ ಬಾಲ್ಯವು ಕಷ್ಟಗಳಿಂದ ಕೂಡಿದ್ದು, ಸುಮಾರು ಮೂರೂವರೆ ವರ್ಷದವರಿದ್ದಾಗ ತಂದೆಯನ್ನು ಕಳೆದುಕೊಂಡರು. ತದನಂತರ ಅವರನ್ನು ಅವರ ತಾಯಿಯೇ ಬೆಳೆಸಿದರು. ಕಲ್ಕತ್ತಾದಲ್ಲಿಯೇ ತಮ್ಮ ಶಾಲಾ ಮತ್ತು ಉನ್ನತ ಶಿಕ್ಷಣವನ್ನು ಪೂರ್ಣಗೊಳಿಸಿದ ಅವರು, 2016 ರಲ್ಲಿ ಡಮ್ ಡಮ್ ಮೋತಿಝೀಲ್ ರವೀಂದ್ರ ಮಹಾವಿದ್ಯಾಲಯದಿಂದ ಬಿ.ಕಾಮ್ (B.Com) ಪದವಿ ಪಡೆದರು.

ಚಿಕ್ಕ ವಯಸ್ಸಿನಿಂದಲೇ ಅವರಿಗೆ ಪ್ರದರ್ಶನ ಕಲೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಆಸಕ್ತಿ ಇತ್ತು. ಅವರ ತಾಯಿಗೆ ಅವರು ಸಂಗೀತ ಕಲಿಯಬೇಕೆಂಬ ಆಸೆ ಇತ್ತಾದರೂ, ಸುಶೋಭನ್ ಅವರಿಗೆ ನೃತ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಹೆಚ್ಚಿನ ಆಸಕ್ತಿ ಇತ್ತು. ತಮ್ಮ ಕಾಲೇಜು ವ್ಯಾಸಂಗದ ಜೊತೆಗೆ, ಅವರು ಸುಮಾರು ಎರಡು ವರ್ಷಗಳ ಕಾಲ ವೆಸ್ಟರ್ನ್ ನೃತ್ಯ ತರಬೇತಿ ಪಡೆದು ವಿವಿಧ ರಂಗ ಪ್ರದರ್ಶನಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಭಾಗವಹಿಸಿದರು.

ನಂತರ ಅವರು ನಿರ್ದೇಶಕ ಪಿಯೂಷ್ ಸಹಾ ಅವರ ಮಾರ್ಗದರ್ಶನದಲ್ಲಿ ಸುಮಾರು ಒಂದೂವರೆಯಿಂದ ಎರಡು ವರ್ಷಗಳ ಕಾಲ ನಟನಾ ತರಬೇತಿ ಶಾಲೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿ (Workshops) ಭಾಗವಹಿಸಿದರು. ಈ ಸಮಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಅವರು ನಿಯಮಿತವಾಗಿ ಆಡಿಷನ್‌ಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಪಾಲ್ಗೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು. 2019 ರಲ್ಲಿ, ದಿವಂಗತ ದೇಬಿದಾಸ್ ಭಟ್ಟಾಚಾರ್ಯ ನಿರ್ದೇಶನದ 'ಆಕಾಶ್ ಆಠ್' ವಾಹಿನಿಯ 'ಆನಂದಮಯೀ ಮಾ' ಧಾರಾವಾಹಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ವೈಷ್ಣವ ಭಕ್ತನ ಪಾತ್ರ ಮಾಡುವ ಮೂಲಕ ಕಿರುತೆರೆಗೆ ಪದಾರ್ಪಣೆ ಮಾಡಿದರು.

ಬಳಿಕ ಅವರು ಸ್ಟಾರ್ ಜಲ್ಷಾ ವಾಹಿನಿಯ 'ಮೊಹೋರ್', 'ಕೋರಾಪಾಖಿ', 'ತಿತ್ಲಿ' ಮತ್ತು 'ಖೇಲಾಗಢ್' ಹಾಗೂ ಝೀ ಬಾಂಗ್ಲಾ ವಾಹಿನಿಯ 'ಜಮುನಾ ಢಾಕಿ' ಧಾರಾವಾಹಿಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ವಿಭಿನ್ನ ಪಾತ್ರಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಅಭಿನಯಿಸಿದರು.

ಕೋವಿಡ್-19  ಸಮಯದಲ್ಲಿ ನಟನಾ ಅವಕಾಶಗಳು ಕಡಿಮೆಯಾದಾಗ, ಸುಶೋಭನ್ 2023 ರಲ್ಲಿ ಮಾಡೆಲಿಂಗ್ ಕ್ಷೇತ್ರಕ್ಕೆ ಕಾಲಿಟ್ಟರು. ಅವರು ಹಾಲಿಡೇ ಇನ್ ಹೋಟೆಲ್, ಬಿಗ್ ಬಜಾರ್, ಸ್ಪೆನ್ಸರ್ಸ್ ಸೇರಿದಂತೆ ವಿವಿಧ ಬ್ರ್ಯಾಂಡ್‌ಗಳಿಗೆ ಕೆಲಸ ಮಾಡಿದರು. 2025 ರಲ್ಲಿ ಕಲ್ಕತ್ತಾದಲ್ಲಿ ನಡೆದ 'ಎಥ್ನಿಕ್ ಎಲಿಗನ್ಸ್ 2025' ಸೌಂದರ್ಯ ಸ್ಪರ್ಧೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಅವರು ಮೊದಲ ರನ್ನರ್-ಅಪ್ ಪ್ರಶಸ್ತಿಯನ್ನು ಗೆದ್ದರು.

 'ಟೇಕ್ ಕೇರ್ ಪ್ರೀತಿ' ಚಿತ್ರದ ಮೂಲಕ ಸುಶೋಭನ್ ಬೆಂಗಾಲಿ ಪೂರ್ಣಪ್ರಮಾಣದ ಸಿನಿಮಾಗಳಿಗೆ ಪ್ರವೇಶಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಜಾಯ್ ಎಂಬ ಪ್ರಮುಖ ಸ್ನೇಹಿತರ ಗುಂಪಿನ ಸದಸ್ಯನಾಗಿ, ಗೆಳೆತನ, ಸಂಬಂಧಗಳು ಮತ್ತು ಬದಲಾಗುವ ಭಾವನೆಗಳನ್ನು ಬಿಂಬಿಸುವ ಕಥೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಅವರು ಅಭಿನಯಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ.

From Struggle to the Big Screen: Susovan Sonu Roy Makes His Bengali Film Debut 

    Born in Howrah and raised in Kolkata, actor Susovan Sonu Roy is currently appearing in director Soumojit Adak's Bengali film Take Care Bhalobasa. He plays Joy in the film, which revolves around four friends and explores their relationships, emotional conflicts and changing equations.

Susovan's childhood was marked by the loss of his father at around the age of three and a half. He was subsequently raised by his mother. He completed his schooling and higher education in Kolkata and graduated with a B.Com degree from Dum Dum Motijheel Rabindra Mahavidyalaya in 2016.

His interest in the performing arts developed from an early age. Although his mother wanted him to learn music, Susovan was more interested in dance. Alongside his college studies, he trained in Western dance for nearly two years and performed in various stage shows.

He later attended acting workshops conducted by director Pijush Saha for around one-and-a-half to two years. During this period, he also regularly appeared for auditions. In 2019, he made his television debut with Aakash Aath's Anandamoyee Maa, directed by the late Debidas Bhattacharya, where he played a Vaishnav devotee.

He subsequently appeared in Star Jalsha's Mohor, Korapakhi, Titli and Khelaghar, as well as Zee Bangla's Jamuna Dhaki. His television work included different roles across these productions.

The COVID-19 pandemic brought a slowdown in acting assignments, following which Susovan moved into modelling in 2023. He worked with brands including Holiday Inn Hotel, Big Bazaar, Spencer's and others. In 2025, he was named First Runner-up at the Ethnic Elegance 2025 beauty pageant held in Kolkata.

With Take Care Bhalobasa, Susovan has made his first appearance in Bengali feature films. As Joy, he plays a friend within the central group of characters, with the story exploring friendship, relationships and changing emotions.
